She further called on all African countries to implement strategies aimed at achieving child related development goals and those that will continue to achieve the objectives of the African charter on the rights and welfare of the child.
At the core of this 29th Ordinary Session is the consideration of five states party reports from Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Tanzania. The Committee will also examine reports on the implementation of the Committee’s decision on communications: the decision on behalf of the children of Nubian descent in Kenya and the decision on behalf of the Talibe children in Senegal.
An update of the amicable settlement reached between the Government of Malawi and IHRDA after a communication introduced by the latter will be presented to the Committee. The Committee has also received recent communications on alleged child rights violations and will consider their admissibility during this Session.
The adoption of the theme of the Day of the African Child (DAC) 2018 is also expected at this Session.
